Marco's Algeba Scribepost

A)

B) Yes, because you can make a straight line if you follow the dots. It is also linear because there is a pattern.

C) Yes, because in hours, there are minutes, and in dollars, there are cents.

 A) The graph is about how much kids in grade 8 can get for every car wash.

B) The pattern on the graph is over 1 and up 10.

C) The cost of 1 car wash is 10 dollars.

D)

E) The value of 15 cars would be 150 dollars. 10x=y

9)

A) The pattern on the graph is over 3 and up 9.

B)

C) The value of y would be y=4

D) The value of y would be y=10

A)

B) The difference is A = up 1 and B = up 4.

C) 4a+1=b
You need to multiply A by 4 and then add 1.

Errah's Algebra Scribepost

Chapter 9 review- questions 7, 8, 9, 10

(A)

B) Yes it shows a linear relation because it goes over and up in the same pattern every time
C) It wouldn't work to have points in between because in order to get Y(p) you need to multiply (x) by 9. (9x=y)

A) The graph is about a Grade 8 car wash. It includes the number of cars and the income for how many cars washed.
B) The pattern on this graph is over 1 and up 10
C) The cost of 1 car wash is 10 dollars

(D)
    E) 10x=y/x=cars y=income/ 10(15)=y/ 150=y
The income for 15 cars washed would be $150

A) The pattern is over 3 and up 9
(B)

C) 3x+2=y/ 3(2)+2=y/ 6+2=y/ 8=y
The value of y when x=2 is 8
D) 3x+2=y/ 3(5)+2=y/ 15+2=y/ 17=y
The value of y when x=5 is 17

(A)

B) A=up 1/B=up 4
C) 4A+1=B
you need to multiply (A) by (4) and add (1) in order to get (B)

Chapter 9 Review Page 360 Questions 7 & 9

b) It is a linear relation because all the points are in a straight line when they are connected and the pattern keeps on repeating.

c) It could be possible because Klaus could work part of an hour and gets a pay in his partly hour.

a) Table of Values

a) The graph is about how much income the Grade 8's are  earning form having a car wash.

b)The pattern goes over 1 then up 10 in the chart so basically you have to  multiply C with I.

c)In the chart it says that 1 car is $10 so 1 car wash is $10.

d)

e) So what you do here is you have to multiply 15 with 10 so the answer $150.

Chapter 9 Practice Test Page 362 Questions 2 & 3

My answer for this question is B because in the table of values the toothpicks in base is 1 and the toothpicks in perimeter is 3, so they got that because what they did is 3b and they did that to the rest.

My answer that I choose is C because the answer follows the same thing like the graph in this question.

Jethro's Algebra Scribepost

 9.3 Chapter Review, Questions: 7 and 8

7. Klaus works after school.
The graph shows his rate of pay.

a) Make a table of
values from the graph

b) Does the graph represent a linear relation? Explain.

c) Is it possible to have
other points between
 the ones on this graph?
Explain.

Answers

a)
b)  Yes, because the ordered pairs are in a straight line, and also because the y axis has the same repeating pattern the goes up by 9 and so does x but x goes up by 1's

c)  Yes, because time (h) has minutes and pay ($) has cents,
so when you put points in between it will still be okay.

8.  The graph shows a linear relation.

a) Describe what the graph is about.

b) Describe patterns on the graph.

c) What is the cost of 1 car wash?

d) Make a table of values from the graph.

e) If 15 cars are washed what is the income for the grade 8 class

Answers

a) The graph is about a Grade 8 car wash and how many income they will get per car.

b) The x axis goes up by 1. The y axis goes up by 10. It is a linear relation. Over 1, up 10

c) The cost of 1 car wash is $10.

d)

e) The income would be $150 because 10x = y

9.3 Chapter Test, Questions: 9 and 10

9. The pattern can be represented by the formula b = 4f  where b is the number of black dots and f  is the figure number.

a) Make a table of values for the number of black dots in figures 1 to 5

b)  Use the formula to determine the number of black dots in figure 60.

Answers

a)
 b)                4f = b                  Formula
                    60f = b                 Fig. 60 = ? black dots
                    60(4) = b             60x4 = ? black dots
                       240                   240 black dots

10. The formula for the pattern below is s = 2f + 1, where s is the number of small square and f is the figure number
a) Make a table of values for the first five figures in the pattern.

b) Draw a graph to show a relationship.

c) Is the relationship linear? Explain.

Answers

a)

b)

c) Yes because the ordered pairs are in a straight line and because the x and the y axis are going at a consecutive value of numbers, x axis is going up by 1's and the y axis going up by 2's, even though it starts at 3 it's still okay as long as pattern is the same.

Chapter 9 Review Pages 360-361

8.a) The graph shows the amount of money earned based on how many cars they washed.
   b) over one, up ten.
   c) $10
   d)

e) 15C=i
   15(10)=i
   150=i

13.a) t = time (h)   d = distance  (d)
    b) 15 represents the speed of 15km/h that he traveled.
    c)

     d)

     e) yes, because the cyclist can travel for hours that aren't whole numbers.
     f) 15t=d
        15(10)=d
        120=d

Chapter 9 Practice Test Page 362-363

   9.a)

   b) 4f=b
      4(60)=b
      240+b

   10.a)

       b)

        c) Yes, because the graph shows a straight line.

Patricia B's Algebra Scribepost

9.3 Chapter Review Pg. 360 Questions: 7 and 9.

B) Yes, the graph represent a linear relation. It represents a linear relation because the dots could be connected with a single straight line. You can also tell that it's linear because the same pattern's repeating over and over again.
C) Yes it's possible to have other points between the ones on this graph because Klaus can work for only a part of an hour and can also receive a part of his hourly pay.

 A) The points are lining up in a straight line. 9 units up and 3 units over. X-axis is increasing by 1 and the y-axis is going up by 2.

C) The value of y when x = 2 is 8.
Explanation: 3x + 2 = y
3(2) + 2 = y
6 + 2 = y
8 = y

D) The value of y when x = 5
is 17.
Explanation: 3x + 2 = y
3(5) + 2 = y
15 + 2 = y
17 = y

9.3 Practice Test Page 362 Questions: 2 and 3.

The correct answer is letter B because if we tried using that expression for Base 1, 2, and 3, it would work.
Proof - Toothpicks in
           Base 1: 3b
                      3(1)
    = 3 (Toothpicks in Perimeter)

Base 2: 3b
                      3(2)
    = 6 (Toothpicks in Perimeter)

Base 3: 3b
                      3(3)

    = 9 (Toothpicks in Perimeter)

The correct answer is letter C because the points corresponds to the numbers given on the table.

Things You Need To Know(:
-Linear means line.
-Intervals must be equal
-Consecutive means numbers one after another ex: 1 2 3 4 ect....
-First number doesn't matter, as long as the pattern goes on
-x comes before y
-1 2 3 4 5 ect... becomes xaxis
-Do not put equal sign when you write an expression
-to find if its linear you find the consecutive number for x and y
