John's Proportion Post
Part 1
- 72 beats/min is a "heart rate"
Ratios- comparison of two quantities.
Example:
Doughnuts : Breadsticks 3:4
Breadsticks : Doughnuts 4:3
Rate- compares two quantities measured in different units.
Example - 1.69 per 100g or 1.69/100g is a rate for purchasing bulk food- 72 beats/min is a "heart rate"
Example
John runs 200 meters in 30 seconds
Proportion- is two equivalents -fractions
-ratios
-rates

5 hours to travel 150 kilometres is about 30 km/h.

Part 5
1) Does this seem fair?
No of course it's not. Even though robbing is illegal. I think the time he's given is way to much, 15 years over 100$ is ridiculous!
2) With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above. Does this seem fair?
No but yes at the same time. That was his choice to rob the bank, but he only took 100$ and confessed the day after, He was desprate. Though robbing is illegal he shouldn't of gotten 15 years for 100$.
3) Why have you made this choice?
I have made this choice because..... It is really not fair! (for the homeless man). The homeless man did not need to stay in jail for 15 years for stealing $100 from the bank. It's really unfair having to see a homeless man be in jail for 15 years for stealing $100 (which is still bad), and seeing a CEO who stole 3 billion dollars and staying in jail for only 40 months (3 years and 4 months). The homeless man clearly had a good reason to tell the teller why he was stealing, then the next day he volunteered/confessed himself to the police, he even said that he wasn't raised the way to steal.
4) What would you have done if you were the judge?
If I was the judge I would've gave him maybe 5 months, because he was in need and was desprate. And because he confessed the day after. For the man who stole 3 billion dollars only getting 3 years, i would've gave HIM the 15 years. That idiot deserves it.

PART 6
John's Fractions
When multiplying a fractions, make sure they are both written as a fraction, example. 6.
1
Then, you multiply the numerator, then the denominator, eg. 6 x 1 = 6
1 2 2
Then, if needed, simplify, example. 6 x 1 = 6 = 3
1 2 2
6 x 1 = 3
2
This could be said in different ways.
For example:
6 groups of 1
2
6 = 1
1 2
Then, you multiply the numerator, then the denominator, eg. 6 x 1 = 6
1 2 2
Then, if needed, simplify, example. 6 x 1 = 6 = 3

2

Questions 7, 16
7. Write each expression as a repeated addition.
a) (+3) x (+8)
(+8) + (+8) + (+8)
b) (+5) x (-6)
(-6) + (-6) + (-6) + (-6) + (-6)
16. A building has 10 storeys above ground and 3 storeys below ground. Each storey has a height of 4 m.
a) What is the total height of the building above ground?
10 x 4= 40
40 m above ground
b) What is the total depth of the building below ground?
(-3) x 4 = 12

John's Pay It Forward
Hello!
For my Pay It Forward , I did a bunch of small activities that helped out in my neighborhood.
At first I shoveled almost my whole street! I started with my house and continued on.
Without realizing that I've shoveled my whole street I didn't thing that was enough for my Pay It Forward.
( I don't have pictures.. I had no time to knock on my neighbors doors and ask for a pictures. )
Another good thing I've done was donate clothes to the thrift store.
I have a lot of old clothes I've worn when I was younger.
I've grown so much none of it fits!
I donated 2 plastic bags worth of clothes.
I all by myself because everyone I asked was busy doing their own PIF.
When I got there they asked why I was alone and if I was gonna buy anything. They were surprised that I went alone to donate clothes to them!
I would have pictures on my phone but I accidentally deleted them.
The third and last thing is that I donated canned goods to a Christmas Cheerboard.
The thing was if you donated you get food and Christmas presents back.
The more you donated the more you got! My mom and I brought 2 full boxes of food.
We came back with 2 boxes of food and some presents! One for me and my 3 brothers.
When I got there , there was so much people there. They must have gotten so much food.
I'm glad I helped my mom carrying the boxes and donating food.
