How to model Distributive Property
Step 1: Lay out the equation- 2 groups of x and 2 groups of -1 and it equals 6
Step 2: You have to create a zero pair by adding +2 and balancing out by adding +2 with 6
Step 3: You need to equally apply the 8 along with x so in this case each x equals 4
Step 4: Model out what x is (4)

So x equals 4 

Constant- The integer that we cancel first. It is a fixed value.
Variable- A letter that represents an unknown number
Coefficient- The number that is being multiplied, divided, added, or subtracted by

Things You Need To Know(:

-Linear means line.
-Intervals must be equal
-Consecutive means numbers one after another ex: 1 2 3 4 ect....
-First number doesn't matter, as long as the pattern goes on
-x comes before y
-1 2 3 4 5 ect... becomes xaxis 
-Do not put equal sign when you write an expression
-to find if its linear you find the consecutive number for x and y

Jasmines Pay It Forward

Part 1

What is "Pay It Forward"?

Pay It forward is about helping others, but not because you want something in return. It simply is about doing a simple act of kindness. By doing something nice to someone it will influence that person to do something nice to someone else. It would be like a chain! The kindness will go on and on.  

Part 2

What was your Pay It Forward act of kindness?

I did my pay it forward act of kindness with my 2 friends Cheryl Calitis, and Patricia Basa. Together our act of kindness was to give goodie bags to the sick children at the "Childrens Hospital"

Why did you choose this activity?

We chose this activity because we wanted to help younger kids who are ill to realize that even though you are sick... there is still a reason to smile! 

Who did you help?

We helped the sick children at the hospital to be happy.

What did you do?

We bought them small toys that they can play with while they were at the hospital.

When did you do you act of kindness?
We did our act of kindness on November 29, 2012 after school.

How did your act of kindness go? 

Our act of kindness went very well!

What Happened?

On Thursday we went to the children's hospital and talked to a very nice lady who worked there. The 3 of us explained why we were there . We told her that we wanted to give the children goodie bags. We showed her what was in the bad, and she was very happy! Sadly we weren't able to give the children the bags personally..So she said she would give it to them for us!

 How did you feel?

Personally I felt really good that I got to do something nice. At the same time I felt pretty disappointed that we couldn't give the goodie bags to the kids so we could see them smile. But overall I was happy.

How did the person or people react?

The lady thought it was very kind of us to do such a thing. I felt that she was very happy.

Did you ask the person or people to "Pay It Forward"?
Yes we did tell the lady to "Pay It Forward"

How did they react to your request?

The lady already knew about "Pay it Forward" but she still thought it was a great idea.

Why is the idea of "Pay it Forward" important?
The importance of "Pay It Forward" is to pass on the act of kindness. By doing this your kindness with help one person, and if they pay it forward it will help another. It is a good was to remember that, if we are kind to one another... eventually they will also be kind and possibly "Pay it Forward" will be a change maker in this world.Has your act of kindness made a difference?

Yes, our act of kindness did make a difference. Though it was a small difference, we still made a change in a childs life by giving them a reason to smile. For all we know that child could of been in great pain, but our act of kindness could of made them smile.

1. Does this seem fair?

No, this is not fair what so ever.  

2. With what you know about proportion look and read what is in the image above.  Does it seem just and fair?

I don't clearly understand the question.. but it still isn't right.

3. Why have you made this choice?

I have made this choice because it clearly isn't fair.. All though he stole money(which isn't right) he does not deserve to got to jail longer than the man who stole $3b... plus, he may have stole... but clearly told the woman why he was stealing.. and he also told the police the next day. 

4.What would you have done if you were the judge?

If I were the judge.. I would only sentence the man for 2-3 months in jail.. other than 15 years! As for the other man.. I would put him into jail for longer than 15 years. After that has been done, to avoid homeless people stealing again I would look towards helping them out. For example... free health care or doctors to look at homeless people. Or even small sandwiches to fill the stomachs of hungry people.

Using the man in the picture.. how many of him can you use to measure the tree?
By measuring the man with a ruler.. I got 2 inches.
The tree it self is 5inches... 
Since 2 is not divisible by 5.. the man will have to be cut in half.
2 full men, and one man who is cut in half.
